Levo raised to 50ug. Query about pulse rate and BP.

I posted a few weeks ago that I'd convinced my GP to raise my levo to 50ug from the 25ug I'd been on for a year. I've got elevated BP which I believe is related to being untreated hypo for more than a decade. GP prescribed two antihypertensives, neither of which had any effect. She wanted to do number 3, but I said I prefer to try out raising levo first. She agreed. Two weeks of 50ug and home reading of BP shows consistently lower. Her concern was that my pulse rate would go through the roof (ie, I'd go hyper). Not happened. Avg pulse in the AM is 60; BP this morning was 135/80 with pulse at 56. Actually, when my pulse is somewhat higher (mid-60s level) both systolic and diastolic measurements are lower. Anyone have any experience or thoughts on this? I visit the endo in mid-April, am slightly concerned my TSH will be so suppressed he or she will panic, want to lower my dose and I'll be back on the argument roller coaster about my BP.

This is not the first time we have seen people report this sort of result.

Seems to me the positive effects could be seen to outweigh a low TSH.

Hi You are right about the BP and the correct treatment will if anything make the HR ( pulse) higher up to normal, not very high. Regarding BP, always ask for a 24 hour home monitor before taking the drugs. The difference between HR and BP is not unusual, compensation. However, even more likely you just may have AF. Make sure , that your HR is not swinging, noticably, Sometimes no symptoms. Try doing the BP and HR 3 times a day for a few weeks. List the results. If it is definitely swinging sometimes, at the time you check , then you need a home heart monitor. 7 days best but will probably 24 hours. It is possible to have AF ( Atrial Fibrilllation )) with no other symptoms and you need to know if it is.

I hope that is clear. If not get back to me.The other thing I would do is make sure what my FT 3 is, you may need some T3 with the T4 to be good.

I hope that helps,

Jackie
