Anyone responding very quickly to Carbimazole? My T4 came down from 34.8 to 25.8 in 10 days taking just 10mg daily. Should I reduce my dose?

In my opinion you should get in touch with the person responsible for your being prescribed it.

Indeed you should be careful not to allow yourself to become hypothyroid, but I think you need more help than we can give - e.g. (obviously) blood tests. (We see quite a number of people who drop from hyper to hypo and yet have not been instructed appropriately what to do.)

hi that happened to me when I was first diagnosed. Within six weeks I was normal and taken of all meds although I had to see the Endo every three months for 18 months. 8 months after my final appointment I went hyper again and it took me 18 months to get back to normal whatever normal, oh yes it is the place where my Endo says everything is normal you are fine your symptoms cannot be your thyroid because your bloods are normal.

I didn't have any symptoms first time round I have been paying for that one since.

I hope you get sorted and that you are well. If your bloods are ok the Endo may think that is the dose you need to take to keep your thyroid well

Take care

Thank you very much for your response. I left London and my GP the day after my diagnosis and am away until mid June. I had a blood test here in France because I felt really faint and thought it might be related here they have walk in clinics where you can get blood tests and results on the day. As I have responded so fast to the Carbimazole I am going to have another blood test in a couple of weeks time to check I am not going too far in the other direction. I will ask to reduce my dose from 10mg to 5mg and hope I don't fog hypo - that is what worries me! Did you have that problem too? I hope you are feeling ok now...I didn't have many symptoms - just weight loss and raised pulse. My pulse lowered almost immediately although I haven't begun to gain weight yet. I was slim before and having lost 10 lbs am now on the thin side. Did you have weight issues?

I advise reading Elaine Moore, very knowledgeable.

When I was hyper they overdosed me on Carbimazole.
