menopause or under active tyroid
you cant, sorry even if you could, your homones could be out because of your low thyroid.
The ovaries, pituatory and adrenal are all interlinked.
will try and find and post the link for you x
Hi 30 Years ago my GP said started menopause and requested a blood test. The nurse hit the roof as she had recently been diagnosed with thyroid. She went immediately to GP and got the test request changed. I have her to thank for the correct diagnosis and successful treatment. My current Gp is also very good at listening and working with me to stayfeeling well. When the national guide lines suggested a reduction in eltroxin I complied but after 2 months told her my quality of life had been affected agreed to reinstate my dosage levels. Everyday I praise our doctors. suggest do not demand appears to work for me
Hi You can only tell by having TSH ,T4 and Free T3 tested. Make sure the doctor does not just do TSH. Have a print out of results with ranges ( lots of Labs different) Remember that after the menopause thyroid disease is very common.I would suggest you also have the hormone tests for Menopause too.
Best wishes,
Jackie
My GP told me that they wouldnt do any hormone tests for the menapause until my periods had stopped for 12 months.......i thought that was rubbish!!!!!
That is rubbish Mandy.
There is a test to see if itsi thyroid or menopause. Both have their tests to prove if it one or the other for menopause I get tested via. Periods or no periods, that is the question they like to throw at you. The period can last for a full 10 years or more even during the menopause. They dont always stop just because some useless Dr thinks that they do.
You have a right to ask for blood testing to be done. Especially as Thyroid, Diabetes, Addisons Disease, Meningistis, Cushings and Menopause all mimic each others symptons and it is those specific tests that identify who is to blame. For Addisons a ATCH test is done, Diabetes glucose etc. The treatment all varies, insulin for diabetes but to flush out the system of an Addisonion crisis you use insulin(dangerous) then steriods.
I know this as my poor dog went to hell and back and I nearly lost her when she went inot acute Addisonion crisis. I so do not want that ever to happen again or get this nasty disease in the human form. Addisons cant contol stress be that happy or bad stress. Theyr Adrenal function is severley comprimised or killed off. My dog takes daily the human drug florineff(humans take this for Addisons) and steriods for life. There is no comeback from this diesase.
I found with my Vet that these can all turn into each other. My dog had Addisons Disease and I have to be alert for sign that she could be turning into Cushings, Diabetic etc. Likewise a Cushings can go into Addisons.
Now I get tested to see if Im menopausal (still wating hopefully ) I still cycle despite a hysterectomy and my ovaries are now embedded into my bowel. (long story and not pleasant)
Menopause blood test =
Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) luteinizing hormone (LH) -
You can also ask for testerone, progesterone testing too along side the FSH and LH.
Thyroid usual blood tests=
TSH,T4, T3,etc.
Go back and demand a blood test to rule it out.
