I was suffering with nerve pain and was prescribed gabapentin,unfortunately i had bad breathing problems and had to abruptly stop taking the tablets, that was 3 weeks ago and I am still suffering from bad anxiety,which includes shortness of breath, has anybody had the same problem.

Hi Joyce confused..l took Gabapentin for ME pain a few years ago. along with Tramadol..l was well dosed up and couldnt function at all ( nothing changed there then!) lwas having ( still have pain on top of my left kidney,which they think now is my adrenal glands) l started having spasms in my legs and arms amd shook..then the chest pain..l was told to gradually decrease the gabapentin and not to stop them quickly ..this took three weeks...l would see your GP and get him to check out your chest and breathing..as you dont know whats happening inside ..and if all is well....l would suggest doing an adrenal stress test.which is done privatly through Genova diagnostics ( see thyroid uk pack).as the symtoms of anxiety and panic and shortage of breath all figure in this. Search in Tags there is a lot about Adrenals there! l wish you well

Thanks Donna for your reply, I also suffer from ME,but was ginen the Gabapentin for jaw pain TMJ, after an MRI scan whicc has come back fine, it is thought that the pain in my jaw is due to the ME, I had to withraw from the Gabapentin as I could not breath, so could not come off gradual, that is why I am having all the problems.
