Endo second time round........
Hi I would list all your symptoms, use the site for ideas! Take it with you for your own reference ie do not give it to endo. Also do not mention lack of sleep if HYpo. as although we know all about it , that is often misconstrued by doctors
Also write down anything you think would be relevant.
Try not to worry, hopefully they will listen as that is the best quality in good doctors. Make sure you say what you want to.
Best wishes,
Jackie
I had my first appt with an endo yesterday and, unfortunately, had a fight on my hands to make him listen to me and NOT treat on blood tests alone. I was in there an hour fighting my corner and after a long slog (and him getting very shirty with me and suggesting I get a second opinion) we managed to thrash out some sort of compromise.
He DID listen in the end but only because he knew that I knew what I was talking about. I truly believe that if I had not been a member of this site and had not done my homework I would have got nowhere fast.
So like Jackie says - go prepared and be prepared to fight for what you deserve. It shouldn't have to be this way but unfortunately for us it is - my endo tried to tell me yesterday that T3 didn't work (I had been on T3 for over a year and had had to stop due to heart palps). My reaction to this statement was a definate "I'm sorry but I strongly disagree with you". He didn't like this but what could he do, I had been on T3 for over a year and KNEW what I was talking about so dont be afraid to stick to your guns but do it in a polite, but firm, manner.
Just to give you hope, the outcome of my first endo appt was a shed load of tests from VitD and adrenal to celiac and parathyroid (with everything you can think of inbetween) PLUS a heart scan and an admission that I may have to go back on T3!!!! (strange that, as half an hour before he had told me it didn't work)
Good luck with it and let us know how you get on.

The last time i saw him ( november ) he said my tests were all normal and that there was nothing else he could do! Had bloods done then and was put on folic acid feel that I will be fobbed off again.symptoms are same (before TT)
Getting my blood results from doctors today will check thanks
always always remember that YOU can insist on a second opinion at avenue of your choice OUTSIDE of the trust that you come under. this should mean that you get a proper second opinion----hopefully---this has to be done via your own gp and any request has to be complied with... the problem with a second opinion from the first dr is that 'will they examine the facts or will they just pay lip service to you ' and decide on their original diagnosis [ if different will they admit they were wrong ]
The appointment on 19th is a second opinion but with same doctor.....
Have just ordered tony tofts book hopefully this will help
Have asked to see a doctor zammitt at ERI still waiting to hear back.I am hopefully that I get to see a different doctor soon
