I have TED and my upper eyelids are always puffy (I presume it's fluid). Any tips on lessening the puffiness?
Thank you.

Sleep with your head raised I have been sleeping on the sofa for over a year with my head on the arm
Also a cold compress
My eyes were so blown I looked like I'd been in a fight and didn't even know what was wrong with me. To cut a very long story short, the only thing that reduced my swellling back to 'near' normal was Prednisolone steroids. The GP popped me on a course for 5 days and then a second course and my eyes are as they are now. The are still slightly bulging but others don't notice - only me. Hope you can get some help from this x
I'm under the Ophthalmologist but she doesn't have any answers. To be honest she only seems interested in the condition of the eye and whether the movement is affected. I have never had steroids for my eyes, maybe because my TED is seen as mild? Although my eyes bulge slightly and I have the TED 'stare'
My Opthalmologist just prescribed me eye lubricants and check my eyes every 6 months but it was the GP who gave me the steroids which returned my eyes to near normal. I feel I still have the stare but the family say I really don't.
Do you know if the steroids need to be used asap?
The British Thyroid Foundation has some info on the use of selenium supplements for those with mild thyroid eye disease. This is the link;

The selenium used was given as sodium selenite in a dose of 100 µg twice daily for a six month period - Maddie
Yes the Ophthalmologist
recommended selenium, same dose but no mention of for how long. Pity she left it until I had seen her over half a dozen times *rolls eyes*
