Good T3 level?

Hello all, would anyone have opinion on this please? I have recently had private tests run,and have been prescribed 25mgs levo for a trial so no real complaints on that score. I was just wondering, my free T3 level was 5.0 (range 3.1-6.8) would that be considered a good level or would a bit more be better?

You really need to go by how you feel. Many people don't feel well until their TSH is below 1 once they are on medication. If you are feeling no better on 25mcg, or you still feel like there is room for improvement, you would probably need an increase. You might find that now you are on 25mcg that your TSH comes down anyway, but you really do need to go by how you feel.

Hi - your FT3 is mid-range. I believe that most people feel better when their FT3 is a bit higher in the range - maybe the top third? But obviously we are all different, and this varies by person. Personally I think I feel hypo with it below 5 and very hypo below 4 (same range as yours). xx

Sorry to hijack the link but following on from your answer Clarebear, I am Graves TT but entering into the hypo phase now 2 years after the op. I'm on 100/125 levo. My bloods were Free T4 22 9-23, TSH 0.24 0.55-4.79 abnormal,Free T3 4.7 3.5-6.5. I feel I could up my dose but the endo thinks not because of the TSH and I'm guessing my T4 would go over range if I did. My question finally, is going over range of T4 make you toxic? Or does it indicate you are not coverting properly?

Hi Shambles it really isn't good to come in on another question as you may be missed . It would be better to ask your own question again.

shambles, this doctor feels that you should try to reach optimal (not just normal) levels and it's likely in the way each result of T4, TSH, FT3 and RT3 forms a total picture. He has some calculations here that might help you figure it out.

Thanks greatly for the answers I will be watchful of it from now on!

Your T3 looks pretty decent....if you feel well, are not gaining weight, sleep well, etc.

Reading a bit from Dr. Rind, you can see it's a rather complicated procedure to answer your question to a tee.

Not what you're looking for?
