Hi nimie,

I am sorry you had a miscarriage last year and please get a copy of your thyroid gland blood test complete with the ranges, as it enables us to comment more fully. and post them in a new question.

Some people do get mental problems due to their thyroid gland disfunctioning, so it is possible that you have been affected in some way.

We will try to support you and look forward to getting your blood test results.

Would you usually experience symptoms with antibodies ?

Sorry about the miscarriage. It is a devastating thing to happen :(

It could have been your thyroid, but it could just be one of those things. If you have another miscarriage, then it would definitely be worth investigating. You may want to investigate anyway. It would also be worth insisting on a thyroid function test as soon as you fall pregnant again and every trimester during the pregnancy.

You can be symptom-free with antibodies, but what could be happening is you become hypo- or hyperthyroid while pregnant(because you have anti-bodies) , which is why it is a good idea to get tested during pregnancy. It would be good to see your results so we can be more help. We may be able to see what is happening.

It is also wise to get your iron, ferritin, B12, folate and vitamin D tested to check everything is ok there. You can be symptom-free (or think you are) with suboptimal levels of any of the above but it would be good to make sure you have good levels or these before falling pregnant again to give yourself the best possible chance of a healthy pregnancy.

I wish you all the best and hope to hear some good news from you soon ;)

Hi Sorry about the miscarriage. It is not normally investigated after just one as thought then to be due to something not quite right with bay ( Yonks ago but may have changed) I went on to have my next child without any difficulties although, I had untreated thyroid disease. A long time ago. To be sure about your thyroid as well as other tests mentioned. You do need a TSH test ( which you had ) but also T4 and most important Free T3. These 3 were always tested for a diagnosis, now it is all about costs. I was treated long ago on the basis of very low Free T3. At that time my thyroid made me very ill but my other thyroid tests were fine. if GP will not do this ( costs) then, it would be worth having the 3 tested through Thyroid Uk bloods. Very easy and reasonable and only show the doc if you need/ want treatment.

Best wishes,

Jackie
