Ongoing saga. (see profile) Latest is he is wanting to prove I'm simply going through the change although I have no symptoms. I have cold flushes NOT hot. ??
Anyway. What might I expect? I want to be prepared rather than baffled. I don't know what this means at all or how it would affect my complaint for Hypo symptoms. Connection etc. I'm getting very fed up with having to research yet 'another' area of health at every visit so that he can conclude my Thyroid hormones are fine.
Thank you, please keep it in simple terms - my brain hurts!

Hi It will not prove any thing. Oestrogen levels do drop with age ,that is normal. It does not mean yourr thyroid is OK. Only an endo could be sure of that with a full history and all the relevant information. Also if it has dropped and it is menapausal rate of thyroid disease increases rapidly among women at this time.
My endo said that as I am in menopause my lack of oestrogen would be causing me the problems that i associate with my thyoid even though I have a raised tsh, low t4 and have antibodies. I dont know what to think either. Am hoping to start NDT soon but have seen a doc from the 'list' who insists my problems are gut related. I am now on a Candida diet!
So now have three things to consider, thyroid, menopause (and possible HRT) and gut issues.
My brain hurts! It takes such a long time to focus on one issue waiting for an improvement before you can venture on trying to resolve another. Really feel i am floundering.
May 2013 - Hi Just wondering how you have got on? My level seem normal now, massive battle to up my Levo! But not sure now with low Oest and NO menopausal symptoms what it might all be about. Still now feelign much better and VERY tired!!
Am now on 1 grain Erfa and dont feel any better. Have increased heart rate if I try to increase it. Have been on Erfa for 2 months and dont feel any better. Getting very very down about all of this. Dont really have much faith in my private doc.I have to suggest things to him.
Not a good idea to take oestrogen without progesterone - they need to be in balance - and do you really want to take horse pee (extracted in a not-very-kind way from the poor horses). More likely to be thyroid or adrenals or even blood sugar problems by the sound of it.
I was thinking along those lines too, but as I said above GP keep coming up with alternatives, rather than carrying out a full Thyroid function test. My TSH has risen since my last test (as I had predicted) and they won't test for T4 etc.... !
