That is great Shaws but can you now find me an explanation for why as a Graves sufferer on carbimazole I have gained weight as do a lot of other people in my situation, when our TSH levels are so low?

Hoping in advance.

I am not medically qualified but this is a link. It was too small to read properly but you can make the print bigger by pressing the Ctrl plus +

Thanks Shaws but I am not convinced by any of that. It basically hints strongly that if you gain weight it is because you are gorging yourself and dont do any fitness. I cant think of anything positive to say about it so I will stop there.

I didn't read it all but if that is what is says, I agree with you. I am sure I saw something on Dr Lowe's site about Graves and will try and find it.

I have but am not sure if it will answer your question. If you cursor to June 11, 2004 Question:

Hmm.....you posted a link to a study that you didn't read properly...? Oh dear..... Anyway, it basically says that T4 therapy isn't good enough to help us hypos lose accumulated body fat, especially in the belly depart. And more and more of us are being told by our doctors that we need to just watch the calories and exercise more! In one study of a very fit guy, he tried everything to lose his belly fat and even though his TSH was in the 'normal' range, nothing. He even began working out more and more and still, nothing. Until he was put on natural desiccated thyroid and then, bingo......he lost all his weight!
