Had two bloodtests that were 'borderline' for underactive thyroid. The third has come back 'normal' so my doc is taking no more action.

Im tired, although sometimes I have lots of energy in short bursts, itchy skin. grumpy, lack of concentration, like a low cloud feeling in my forehead/eye area, low libido. I got tests done due to these symptoms and they have not changed since the normal test. What steps can I take now. Doc says watch symptoms and come back if they get worse.... what is worse?

Have you had your B12, folate, ferritin and TPO antibodies done.

I have an underactive thyroid which I have had for 18 years and it was ok until a year ago

when I started feeling tired, brain fog, aching muscles, dizzy, headaches so I went back to the drs for a blood which revealed I had Pernicious Anemia which is a B12 deficiency.

Ask for theses to be done and it just might be the reason you feel like you do.

Good luck and keep us informed

Are you being treated for your thyroid, as I am at the 'getting it diagnosed stage'.

Feel like I'm going a bit mad!

Have suffered from the big D before but its not that as its feels really different. They did a whole range of blood tests inc hormones. Only thyroid showed up.

Thanks for your help

What time of day did you have your blood drawn?

Best time to demonstrate how high your TSH is going would be as early as possible in the morning. I go at 08:00 when our phlebotomy department opens.

It can make a significant difference.

1st was a fasting test 8am, 2nd was at 4.30 ish and the 'normal' was at 10am... so a whole range!

How about letting us know the test results with ranges? Doctors are notorious in saying "normal" when we know we are on our knees

Hi You did not say which bloods you had done or the ranges. Did you have Free T3 done? I ask because when I first stated on treatment my Free T3 was very low, below range, T 4 not bad and TH low. This was years ago,no T3 then, so I had t take armour. Eventually it made a huge difference Also if vit D low as it is a hormone, it effects the thyroid greatly, as so do the other things mentioned.

Do not put up with it if you feel rotten.

After all my fighting, long ago, when we did not have copies of doctors letter etc. and silly me I actually trusted doctors,, that my kidney man wrote that I had an endocrine problem in 1982. All that suffering! moral is fight for any treatment you think you need.

Best wishes,

Jackie
