Hi I have been having Thyroid blood test every 6 months for last 2 years and always taken my thyroxine after the test, this was on the advise of my consultant. Hope that helps.

The rule is no thyroid meds on the day of the test, before the test. OK to take them later. This is because the thyroid hormones paek in the blood a couple of hours after taking them and can give a falsely high reading......

oh my so basically i could simply feel so ill because i've had false readings due to taking my thyroxine the morning of my blood tests, as i 've never been told any different. So by simply not taking my meds that morning i could get the answers i need to feel human again? wow ........ have ordered all my thyroid blood tests from the last five years and i'll put them up when i have them see if anyone can see a pattern. I can't tell you all how much i really really appreciate your help, you've all given me my fight back to get well.

thankyou everyone

Hi, like you I have never been told not to take my med's on the day of the test I shall now bare this in mind, lucky enough this time round, I had tken the thyroxine, but my levels had dropped quite abit so the doc increased my thyroxine by 25mg's I dread to think what they could have been!!, will in future not take them until after,

thank's for the info

Well my blood test is on Monday and I will make sure i don't take thyroxine all weekend. there is no way i'm letting them reduce my meds again. x
