Supporting high doses of T3 meds is your endo supporting you or your GP

well...you already know my answer :)

put on T3 by private Dr S, reached 125mcg with him

went to see GP who said just one word to my request of T3: NO :D

however GP offered an NHS endo referral and having done my research went to an endo recommended to me.

Endo with no quibbles/no problems asked my GP to put me on T3, GP 'obliged' with no questions asked/no problems prescribed, am now on NHS T3 :)

I'll let the 'water settle' for a few months then will say to GP: 'You DO realise that this endo is asking you to do 'exactly' as Dr S asked don't you?'

Well done and good for you, Cos it's the principle of the matter. Dr S was ignored yet again and the endo was not! The NHS GPs should be ashamed of themselves! good for you though, But like you said let the water settle first!

Yes indeed you have done well- wish I could see the same chappy as you do without been classed as a ticking timebomb wonder if he travels up my neck of the woods?

Have been on T3 for a few months now. GP wouldn't prescribe but endo suggested it after blood tests subsequent to me raising my own T4 dosage, which made my symptoms worse. Endo only put me on 5mcg but after a period of feeling amazing started to get some symptoms again. Increased my own dosage to 10mcg(5mcg twice a day), after feeling much better again, told endo. Endo is now saying I have to decrease due to possibility of irregular heartbeat(which I already have) and osteoporosis.

He wants me to stop and have another blood test in 2 weeks but GP has agreed to let me have a blood test now, then reduce my dose and have another blood test 8 weeks later. At least this way we can see the effects of my dose.

I still get mild symptoms, especially if I do a lot and think I would actually benefit from a higher dose. I also tried to cut out the T4 altogether but this made me feel worse.

Not sure what to do or what will happen???
