Anyone help ? thyroid test results,,free T4 18.... - Thyroid UK
Anyone help ? thyroid test results,,free T4 18.2 and Tsh level of 0.75,, what do these results tell me ? dont feel right at all,,
TSH is on the low end and FT4 probably at the high end (although that's a guess because you haven't given the accompanying lab reference range). Some people would feel quite well with these results, but that doesn't mean you should
Are you on thyroid medication? If so, what sort, what dose and for how long? And in what way do you not feel right i.e. what symptoms?
Hi, the serum free t4 18.2 pmol/l range is 7.86-14.41 and serum tsh level 0.75 range 0.35-5.50, info on my test sheet,, symptoms are inverted t wave on ecg, trembling hands, pressure around eyes, visual problems, fatigue, some times carnt think or put words together,, anxiety, hyperactivity, irritability and nervousness , upset stomach and guts,migraine/headaches loss of interest in things,,been tested for lots of things,, all ok, had my heart checked last week,, all good apart from the t-wave,, this is the only test that has shown some signs,,, just want answers,,many thanks for your help,,
Your T4 is high considering that you are not on any meds. You could be hyperthyroid which would account for all your symptoms. Your TSH is still within range, but not by much, so I would say hyperthyroidism.
Has your doctor said anything about your results?
Ah, a result of 18 with that FT4 range is saying that you have too much thyroxine in you, which could easily account for the symptoms that you've described. Unfortunately, medics almost always go by the TSH level first and foremost, so with your TSH still being within the range, they may be overlooking the possibility that you are actually suffering from hypERthyroidism.
So, as you're not on any meds, this assumes that it's your own thyroid that is producing too much thyroid hormone, hence hypERthyroidism or over-active thyroid.
You might find my reply to another member here the other day about an over the counter supplement called L-Carnitine, to be of interest. Click on this link and scroll down to find my reply:
my mother and my nan both had thyroid problems, and my cardiologist thinks this could be why i had a strange t waveon my ecg, i dont look unwell, but dont feel right, many thanks for the info, its hard to get answer from the docs,,
If they can't come up with any other answers for your symptoms, then it really does point strongly at thyroid. Sounds like the cardiologist is on the right track. Let us know what happens when you see your GP on Friday.
