I took it a couple of years ago. I got 2 months supply. Unfortunately it did not help me at all, but I guess we are all different so it may well be helpful to you. x

I've been taking it for about a year, more to help lift my 'mood'. I need other things than that to help me sleep. It made me have high magnesium on blood test results.

For sleep I'd use something else, like boots sleepeaze - over the counter - 50mgs. It works.

I've also taken Boots Sleepeaze and have very good sleep using this. I'm 18 weeks pregnant though and have recently had to find another solution as my insomnia has got worse during pregnancy. I'm using Magnesium oil before bed, I spray 2 or 3 sprays on the soles of each of my feet and rub it in. Some nights it seems to work well, other nights not so good. I feel that I must be getting a deeper sleep from it as I'm still awake for some of the night, but nowhere near as exhausted as I used to be. I have a 2yr old so need to feel as good as I can to cope with him!! I initially read about magnesium oil when someone mentioned it on one of Mary Shoman's Facebook posts. It's worth a try at only £7 a bottle on Amazon.

I took LTryptophan which was avaiable many years ago and is basically what turns into 5htp which then then converts to serotonin. It was like a miracle for me as I had severe anxiety at the time, panic attacks etc and insomnia and from the first day of taking it I slept and quite quickly my anxiety lessened. You can't buy LTryptophan now but I understand 5htp is meant to be better. I would call one of the good vitamin companies here in the uk that have trained people you can talk to and can give advice. Biocare or Higher Nature or Solgar spring to mind. Make sure you speak directly to them and not just a company selling there products. Obviously, they will want to sell you their brand but you will also receive sound information. Never buy something like 5htp just off the Internet. It is mood altering because it changes your brain chemistry and an expert should really be giving advice on how to take it and what would work best for you, especially if you have thyroid issues.

Also, all the old wives tales when added together really do help -no caffeine after 6pm, a milky drink (not hot chocolate because it has lots of sugar and caffeine) and no napping in the day. Very hard if you are tired but once you nap you change your sleeping pattern and it will be harder to sleep at night. X
