I have half my thyroid remaining after removal of multinodular goitre five years ago (when levels were normal). Now on 75mg of Levo. I requested a test and told my docs only supply TSH test and if that is not normal only then will they consider further tests. My last TSH was 1.2. I have gained a large amount of weight which will not shift. I am also diabetic

Expect the bare minimum, TSH only. I do my own comprehensive testing through Genova. It's a worthwhile exercise. NHS is oblivious to "euthyroid sick" syndrome; ie your tests are in range but you feel like shit.

Thank you, yes my partner recently had to do this as they would not even test his TSH.

I am lucky as I get TSH, FT4 and FT3 on the NHS. I think this is because I am under an endo and he expects to see all of these test results when I see him. I am also on medication containing T3 so it would be fairly silly for my FT3 not to be measured.

If, however, your TSH is "normal" then without an endo on board, you are probably unlikely to get anything oter than TSH.

I have used Genova myself in the past for rT3 and adrenal saliva tests and they have been good. Here is a link to some info o private testing if you are interested. xx

My GP has always done T4 and T3 on the NHS. Theese however were in range and until I went privately and had my peroxidase levels tested the root of the disorder remained concealed. My NHS GP finds it very frustrating.

Thank you for useful info. I have no idea what peroxidase levels are so will look it up! Do you mean that your GP finds the limitations of the nhs range of tests frustrating?
