I've just had half my thyroid and a goitre removed. My thyroxine dosage has been increased, but I'm still totally exhausted, any advice?

Please help those who consider your case by telling us more - when was the operation performed, how much thyroxine were you on and for how long, and what is your current dose and how long have you been on it? If you have the results of any blood test please would you quote the results plus the all-important ranges.

Have your B12, ferritin, folate, Vit D been checked?

Hi Fiona

Welcome to our site and it will be a big learning curve about thyroid. It is very early days yet if you only had the op a month ago. Usually the increase in thyroxine is gradual - maybe every 4 to 6 weeks (someone who has had the op may say differently). So you say you began on 75mcg (for 1 week and then 75 and 100 on alternate days for 3 weeks) it may be that it is a bit too much but, of course, you will be under the care of an Endo.

Initially, many people feel unwell until they get to an optimum dose and when you next have your blood test ask for a copy of the blood test results - this should also include the ranges (the figures will be in brackets as labs differ). Post your results here and It makes it much easier for someone to advise.
