Hi everyone. Just wanted to share that I am really dreading Monday as my baby son has to go for a blood test and also see his Consultant. (his thyroid gland does not work at all) I hate taking him for blood tests as he screams and it takes ages to get a vein in his hand. After he was 12 weeks old we have been able to put him cream on his hand to numb it first but it seems that because the nurse has to bend his hand right over to squeeze the blood out, it is very uncomfortable and he still can feel some pain. He has had loads of blood tests now but I seem to hate it more each time we go. I think it is because the older he gets the more aware he is becoming of what is happening. But the nurses tell me that he is too young to remember any of it.
He is now on 50mcgms of levothyroxine and that seems to be working well for him at the moment.
Also I am a bit concerned about seeing the Consultant as the one who diagnosed my son has retired but I think she may be coming to do an odd day later in the year. I just hope that our new Consultant is as good with James as the other one.
Hope you all have a good weekend.
