How long does it take for hair shedding to stop? I just started on levothyroxine (for a hypothyroid) and have lost up to 70% of my hair at the time of diagnosis. Any advice/tips would be welcome.

Looking for tips/advice on minimizing hair shedding and how long does it usually take to stabilize the shedding? The extent of hair shedding I am undergoing is causing me alot of distress.

Took me a year. I just replied to an earlier post. I lost 2/3 of my head, all my body. It came back, once my TSH was under 1. But it's thinner, greyer! Sporadically it all goes again, and I am back where I started. I have had to learn to cope, it is so hard though, eh? I cut it all off short, short hairs down the drain are less distressing, and got scarves and lipstick to compensate. Here I am on the subject on my blog.

I'm sorry to hear what you've been through. I had starting losing some eyebrow hair and all my body hair slowed down in the rate of growth. My endo has told me that it will take "months" to see any difference to the hair...great! It is hard....but I always remind myself that there are people in this world 1,000 times worse off than me! It gets me through!
