Week 9 of increases dose and my hair fall has increased about 10 times the amount of hair coming out this week as came out last week the hair fall has ramped up significantly this past 7 weeks of so but this week it's been massive. Hair very very badly tangled because strands are so fine now and because so much is shedding. Quality hair is so poor. Just really an update for anyone going through this too but maybe earlier in the process. My dosage is 75mg from Dr. I take one day 100mg one day 75mg.

hair fall update
I had a quick look back on your old posts and can't immediately see where you have had your vitamin levels tested. Hair falling out can be frequently be caused by low levels of ferritin. Do you have those results? if not you need to get feritin, folate, B12 and D3 tested.
What are the blood results on current dose?
Vitamins are fine. I inject b12 take high strength folate tablets take vit d spray and k2 daily. Mad take iron tablets regularly. Am aware to monitor iron as it can be overdoses. I'm getting vitamins tested again when do next thyroid test privately. Last time was done was about 12 weeks ago. No issues with vitamins at all
Hi Jump1,
I have the same. I wonder about all the factors such as low Fe, taking Thyroid(for me it's now Metavive but was Armour + others). With a huge amount of products I can manage to comb through my washed hair if I do it staight away with lots left in the comb. Otherwise it's impossible and is a fine tangled mess. It looks more than it is because of the fuzzy dryness. Doctor said get used to it. I worry about others seeing it and how I will work even go about any social life if/when it gets worse. I mourn the state of it and do not want to cut it off which would help with the tangle but as it's been on the way out for about 3-4 years I would say, it's on it's own timescale and I want to keep it as long as possible.
Heart breaking I understand. But I don't understand why when thyroid improves the hair doesn't and other things do improve. I'm 100 percent certain it's thyroid causing this
I don't understand the link -I was not aware it is a known link apart from a few writing here about it.
It must be multi-factorial surely? But hair loss can be very gradual and unnoticed at the start... and I used to have a lot of hair.
For me I'm certain that thyroids caused this. When it went south my hair went south. I've had bad vitamins and no thyroid problems before and it was fine. I've the thyroid eyebrows everything. I just can't understand why it's not improving with the thyroid meds. I just wish I went to Dr when iw as healthy and got thyroid tested to see where I was on it. I wud advise all young healthy people to get thyroid tested when healthy as a marker for themselves
Did I read that correctly, you take 100mg one day and then 75mg the next day? One of the side effects of thyroid medicine is hair loss. You might ask about Armour, it has T4 and T3. Also, sex hormones, if out of balance can cause hair loss. Just some thoughts and suggestions.
I've had every blood test possible done including sex hormones stress the lot. The thyroid is the one that's been consistently off. And not treated well. It's only past two months they have agreed to give me 75. Yes 75 one day 100 the next. Someone on this site suggested I try that based on weight. I supplement the extra 25 from bought thyroid meds. Same type mercury pharma as doctors. I can hardly get thyroid meds from Dr. I doubt they will give me armour. Do GPS in UK prescribe it even.
so are we saying a side effect of hypothyroidism is hair loss and a side effect of thyroid medication is hair loss? Is it perhaps uneven unreliable levels? I don't know but NHS doesn't think hair loss matters for older women in my experience. Otherwise can anyone here explain?
i was 36 when this started. No one cares about
