people who take t3 as one dose a.m with levo…

JoJoloveschocolate profile image

At the moment I’m taking my t3 split in doses as 5mcg am with levo and 5mcg at 12md (moved this up from 4pm).

I’m thinking of changing to taking my t3 as a single 10mcg dose with my levo in the morning, instead of split doses. Just wanted to know if anyone who is taking t3 as a single dose in the morning originally changed from split dosing…did you just do a straight changeover to once a day? Did this create any side effects or issues?

Thanks JJ

It’s very much trial and error to see what works best for you JoJoloveschocolate. Many people take Liothyronine as a single dose alongside Levo. Personally, I’ve found splitting my dose gives me more energy in an afternoon (eg 10mcg am with Levo, 5mcg in an afternoon). Others also have success taking as a night time dose to aid sleep.

Thanks, Buddy195 . I’ve moved the second afternoon dose to 12md and find that this works better for me than leaving it until later in the afternoon so I was thinking about moving it to the morning to see how that works. A couple of people have suggested trying one dose instead of splitting into two, but I’m just a bit wary of doing it.

I decided 25 years ago to change to once a day in the morning. I cannot recall having any reaction to it.

Thank you so much for your reply Lilian15 . I what ways did once a day dosing help you?

It helped first and foremost for practical and convenience reasons As I was working at the time, it became simpler just to take one tablet in the morning, rather than try and remember in a busy day, and it did not seem to make a difference (Healthwise) whether split or not. It seems T3 has a longer half life than first thought.

Makes sense. Thanks, Lilian
