Hi folks not posted for a while .I had my tsh level results beginning of last week and my levels were 0.2 down from 4.79 in October .

The latest blood results were fast bloods and I was told to take my levothyroxine as always .

I have been feeling a bit out of sorts after I had the flu about 5 weeks ago .

I have been overheating and having night sweats. Chest feels tight , breathlessness on walking at a normal pace . Insomnia , bad headaches, irritable and weepy .

So my levothyroxine has been reduced from 100mcg to 75mcg sticking to the same brand vecamil aristo . Today was day 5 on lower dose and I've to get my bloods checked in 6 weeks time .

I have been off sodium valproate for 15 weeks and my endocrinologist said that this medication can put you more in the hypothyroidism level .

Can anyone offer advice as the endocrinologist said that depending on my next blood results the dosage could be reduced more and eventually come off levothyroxine.

I'm a bit confused and I'm getting more bloods checked apart from just tsh levels and a antibodies test done aswell

I'm sorry I was only given my tsh results as that's all that was tested . But my normal range for me I was told is tsh level 4 .

Unfortunately a TSH only test is not enough. If my TSH was 4 I’d be bed bound, but of course we are all different.

My thought is that because you had taken your levo and possibly the blood test was way after 9am and you had eaten and maybe had caffeine, that your result came up the same as on a normal day. Your level changes throughout the day. I would request another test and have it around 9am, fasting with just water, levo taken afterwards.

And if you can afford it, do a home fingerpick test which will do TSH, FT4 and FT3 levels for you.

Not what you're looking for?
