Automatic assumption by HCP that the patient is wrong, mistaken or lying

Went for a fasting lipids test this morning (hoping that when (if?) my thyroid is under control this won't be an issue)

Told they are testing my thyroid as well, as they have paperwork online - no I explained that's for a blood test on 3rd March as it has to be 8 weeks after the last one

Dont be silly said the phlebotomist, you don't need to come twice, they won't mind doing it early

Umm I do need to come twice and I bet I get a snippy little message on my results saying it's too soon

So she did both and the gp have reissued the paperwork for the thyroid check on 3rd march

I mean why would I lie?

Good question! I don't wish to generalise, but there seems to be a growing attitude among health workers that they can never be wrong. :o(

Or maybe it's "fake it till you make it". 😜😂

Once we come to terms with the fact that HCPs never learned any of this, actually don’t have any idea what they are talking about, then everything makes sense.

Until you are kept sick by HCPs and have to navigate around the complete lack of knowledge and total lack of intellectual curiosity - you just can’t comprehend the depth of the incompetence.

It doesn’t surprise me anymore but it is so completely mind blowing every time.

I get asked if I want other things on the system rather than get forced to have it.You do always have the right to refuse. I am starting to get a knack for this. A couple tests back I quit a blood test because they dug around and It decided they had no hope. Rebooked to see someone else.

I had a similar experience where I was told that, "No, doctors don't like to be send test results separately. So all tests have to be done today and together." I think sometimes they just make this up as they go to fit whatever agenda they have at the time.

Hello surgery, could I book a blood test for my thyroid please?

You had a test 3 months ago, so no, you cannot have another yet.

But the lab said the tests failed and to do them again...

We cannot book another test for another three months. We can only do them every six months if needed.

You cannot argue with stupid!
