check your pulse, you may be over medicated.

There is usually a sweet spot for thyroid hormone replacement and it can be hard to tell if you are on too much or too little as symptoms are often the same. Your pulse suggests you might need a sight increase but best guided by the bloods you are going to have taken. Make sure to ask for your Vitamin d to be tested and B12 as well as folate and ferritin as all can effect how you respond to thyroid replacement. Sometimes when first starting on thyroid hormones symptoms get worse or appear until you are on the right dose and you vitamins are up to scratch. Also when I was nursing you used to be able to get sheets called kylies that would absorb a lot of fluid and stay dry on top. There must be something similar still around you could maybe invest in for a better nights sleep while you are going through this.

Poor you, sounds dreadful.

A month ago, when you posted, you were unmedicated after having RAI. And then (with a TSH of 22) doctor put you on 100mcg levo daily (I think I’ve got that right?).

It could be that you’re either over medicated or undermedicated but you need blood tests to know really.

It's horrid 😖

Likely not relevant but just in case.

My Mum who is nearly 80 takes a small HRT dose for this. I think oestrogen 1 mg? She has been put on a patch but is now back on a tablet.

She is definitely not over replaced on levo.

Hmmm someone else suggested that.. Thanks for jogging my brain 🧠

Request GP test B12, folate, ferritin and vitamin D

Low B12 is extremely common when hypo and as we get older

Low B12 can cause drenching night sweats

Thanks .. I'm on 3mnthly B12 injections ? Can that be done maybe 2mnthly ?

SlowDragon profile image
SlowDragonAmbassador in reply toCoulby

Yes request more frequent injections

3 month is purely arbitrary

Try every 2 months or monthly

oh really ! Why the heck don't they tell you that...A few years back I was diagnosed with anemia and even then I was put on 3mnthly B12...Thanks heaps SlowDragon 😊

If you haven't already, I suggest you join this forum:

Pernicious Anaemia Society

healthunlocked.com/pasoc

(And, maybe the society itself. It does have members from round the world.)

Discussions about injection frequency are very common. And they might even have some members who understand how things work in New Zealand.

Oh IL definitely do that..Thanks heaps..So many here complain about our medical system and being left to sort things ourselves basically..It's dreadful.

Thankyou for all your help🌻I'm off to have a sweaty sleep but will be back after my next bloods on the 26th I think 🤔

How’s your blood sugar? Hypoglycaemic episodes cause sweating as they cause an adrenaline surge. Poor blood sugar control is a hypothyroid symptom. You might find eating a slow release carbohydrate & some protein eg nuts late in the evening helps or try a supplement to help. Zinc is very important & likely low if you’re hypo. Berberine helped me cope.
