I had me 2nd daughter in April 2018. In July I collapsed with right sided weakness on my body. Got taken to hospital, where they assumed it was an anxiety attack. Had mri scans, as they also suspected a mini tia. Everything come back clear. During this time I was on propranolol for racing heart, sweaty palms etc. Then they diagnosed me with an overactive thyroid, which was gradually going to underactive. Got put on 50mcgs of levothyroxine. That was at the end of September. Every now and again, I feel like I'm starting to get the anxiety back and sweating palms again, and being really forgetful. I'm only 29, so has been worrying me quite a bit. The endocrinologist thinks it might either be post partum thyroiditis or hashimotos. I had a blood test done about 2 weeks ago, and they said that my results were satisfactory. Could the things how I'm feeling be connected to taking the tablets, or that my thyroid is playing up again.
Thanks

I haven't got them to hand. But I know my results have changed quite quickly in a short space of time. When I saw the consultant he told me that I was positive for antibodies, so he thinks either hashimotos or post partum thyroiditis. I've only got my results for ft4 and the so as soon as I've got them, I will post them x
Well, your TSH is far too high for someone on Thyroid replacement, most people need it to be around 1 or below. But I can't say anything about your FT4 without the reference range, they vary from lab to lab. We see on here 7-17, 9-19, 12-22 and others.
I believe it can be temporary after having a baby, you can hope.
You can possibly help reduce the antibodies by adopting a strict gluten free diet which has helped many members here. Gluten contains gliadin (a protein) which is thought to trigger autoimmune attacks so eliminating gluten can help reduce these attacks. You don't need to be gluten sensitive or have Coeliac disease for a gluten free diet to help. However, it doesn't help everyone but it's worth trying.
See if you can find out which antibodies were tested and what the result was.
Also worth checking your B12 levels - I'm thinking of the weakness here - Pernicious Anaemia is inability to absorb Vitamin B12 & is strongly linked to Hashimoto's disease. B12 can be drained by Gas & Air used in births as pain relief.
I've just had 2 weeks of having vitqnib b12 injections, as those were checked as I was low in them. I had to have them about 10 years ago aswell for a few years
Hmmm it sounds like you were perhaps thought to have pernicious anaemia ( years ago) but no one told you. Injections are for life . How are you feeling following the injections ?
Explain the heart stuff again ? low potassium can cause heart problems ?
B12 injections can reduce Potassium .
Go & buy V8 Juice ( not the low sodium version) or coconut water These must be a Litre & drink the whole lot within an hour ( of which ever you choose) & see if heart stops banging - If it helps then you were low potassium v8juice.co.uktesco.com/groceries/en-GB/p...
I stopped taking my thyroid tablets about 3 days ago, as I missed one, and felt loads better not taking them. But today, I've had a bad day, low energy, low mood and feel like my anxiety has come back again. So I've started taking the thyroid tablets again.
I had a blood test done on the 13th Feb. Just had my results. They are ft4 is 16.7 and tsh is 1.84. They have told me to stay on the 50mg of levothyroinxe. Does that sound normal? Thanks x
