Hi, started taking T3 after not feeling well on T4, felt well but later on started getting problems with digestive problems. GP wasn’t very helpful, experienced pain from mouth throughout my digestive system, urethra and even my cervix would burn.
Has anybody else experienced these problems. Stopped taking the T3 in September, rang out and wasn’t able to find a supplier without a prescription, seemed better but now have my original problems back, joint pain, feeling exhausted.
Hospital endocrinologist no help what so ever.

So are you currently taking nothing at all for your thyroid?
How long have you been at current dose or taking nothing at all
Taking any replacement thyroid hormone that contains T3 will significantly lower TSH
TSH can remain suppressed or extremely low for a LONG time after stopping or reducing
Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test (and if on Levo …..last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test )
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
T3 ….day before test split T3 as 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day, with last dose approximately 8-12 hours before test
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins
If you normally take levothyroxine at bedtime/in night ...adjust timings as follows prior to blood test
If testing Monday morning, delay Saturday evening dose levothyroxine until Sunday morning. Delay Sunday evening dose levothyroxine until after blood test on Monday morning. Take Monday evening dose levothyroxine as per normal
How much T3 were you taking
Did you not try adding small dose T3 alongside Levo?
Haven’t taken any T3 since 1 September but still took Metavive 1, but only the same dose. Still have the burning sensation but not as bad as when I was taking the combined t3 and Metavive 1.
