Hi, currently on 112.5 mcg Levothyroxine and several supplements. I’ve learnt the chronic fatigue may be unrelated to thyroid health.

Please advise. (2 photos, 1 in reply)

Looks to me very much like yout chronic fatigue is very much related to your low T3 and very low ferritin.

I’m on 112.5 mcg, Endocrinologist didn’t feel the need to up the dose, but will try 125 mcg as I have it and ferrous sulphate 200 which I could double I guess?

I don't suppose your endo know very much about thyroid. Not many of them do.

I'm not sure about doubling your ferrous sulphate. Do you know what your serum iron level is? Do you take vit C with your ferrous sulphate?

Is that same as Serum Ferritin? = 61

Ferritin AT (Venous) = 29

Not taken it with Vitamin C

I personally have learnt that though chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia pain may not be totally related to thyroid health, it can be improved by getting your FT4 and or FT3 to higher levels than yours!

Looking at your thyroid levels:

Ft4 - 53% through the range

Ft3 - 47% through the range

Most people feel well when their TSH is around 1 or below and the FT4 and FT3 between 60-80% through the range. So an increase in dose might be in order, as you are symptomatic.

A normal replacement dose for adults is between 1.6-1.8 mcg levothyroxine per kg of body weight. So a person weighing 70 kg would need between 112 and 126 mcg levo, some might need even more, if they have absorption issues.

Your ferritin is also a bit low, so I would work on increasing this, as this helps with the conversion from FT4 to FT3. Low levels of iron are associated with chronic fatigue and being out of breath easily, so this should improve once your levels go higher.

How did you manage to get an Endo and treatment with thyroxine on those"normal" results as they are all in the range and TSH is only 1.58? Or did you originally have worse results than this? Just wondering. Have you got a diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome?

How did your symptoms start? Was it sudden? Mine started suddenly with fatigue and dizziness but my blood tests including thyroid were all normal ranges.

Not what you're looking for?
