The highest dose in a UK approved levothyroxine is 100 micrograms.
Bear in mind that if there were a 225 microgram tablet, then any change of dose would require a new prescription and possible waste of what you already have.
Most of them contain a sugar - lactose or, in one case, sucrose. One contains mannitol (which is classed as a sugar alcohol and sweetener).
Two do not contain such ingredients - Aristo Vencamil and Glenmark. However Glenmark is currently unavailable and we are unsure if or when it is returning.
The most sugar any of them contains is about 65 milligrams of lactose. Which is difficult to assess as it is such a small amount and, anyway, some diabetes sources positively recommend consumption of dairy products which would contain more than that.
The one which contains sucrose - well, the entire tablet is less than 50 milligrams. I suspect that, for many of us, we consume more than that much in every meal we eat - even if we try to avoid sugar. And if not sugar/sucrose, then as carbohydrate which is digested into sugars.
helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines
helvella has created, and tries to maintain, documents containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines licensed in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world. There is now a specific world desiccated thyroid document.
I highly recommend viewing on a computer screen, or a decent sized tablet, rather than a phone. Even I find it less than satisfactory trying to view them on my phone.
helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines - UK
The UK document contains up-to-date versions of the Summary Matrixes for levothyroxine tablets, oral solutions and liothyronine available in the UK. Includes injectables and descriptions of tablet markings which allow identification. Latest updates include all declared ingredients for all UK-licensed products and links to Patient Information Leaflets, Dictionary of Medicines and Devices (dm+d), British National Formulary, NHS Drug Tariff, etc. PLUS how to write prescriptions in Appendix F.
Also includes links for anti-thyroid medicines (but not product details).
