I have found myself really annoyed every time I hear Labour in interviews excited to be about to tap this hidden labor force of chronically ill and long terk ill citizens. Makes me feel they haven't a clue.
My issue is that with such mammoth waiting lists how are they going to get them down. 7 million or so are waiting for treatment, many long term sick and disabled will be amongst that number.
And secondly where are the employers. I have a young relative struggling to find work, he's fit, motivated, has a full employment history, upto date skills. If he's struggling then what chance people who've not worked for months even years?
Employers dont want to employ people who need time off for medical appointments, who might be unreliable, who might need expensive workplace adaptions. As ever all governments are strong on soundbites and clickbait, but much weaker on detail.
Yes, I agree. I've been off 7 months now. My employer is still holding my job but I can't figure out how I can get back when reasonable adjustments I may need just don't work with the nature of my job.
If they used the NHS and not private health care, they may have a clue how bad it now is. I see none of them gave up their heating allowance while cutting pensions heating help....
