Would someone remind me whether statins are not advisable for a hypothyroid female of 76 please? I had a blood test a few months back and my cholesterol is fine but my GP still put statins on repeat for me. I didn’t collect them and unless my blood tests come back showing a need for them I don’t see why I should take them.
Many thanks.

I don't think statins are advisable for anyone. Cholesterol is not a problem, it's a symptom not a disease. Usually a symptom of low T3. You certainly don't want to take them if your cholesterol is not high, but Big Pharma wants everyone on statins regardless. They make them lots of money.
I would suggest you check out the blog by Dr Malcolm Kendrick and his book The Great Cholesterol Con:
I heard that doctors gain financially by prescribing statins. I refused them so each time I get bloods done I get a diet sheet. If they just treated my thyroid properly maybe my cholesterol wouldn't be as high. I too would avoid.
