It’s a friend of my daughters so no idea. I’m just trying to understand why just eat Broccoli & no other treatment offered. Apparently she falls asleep all the time even at work & even thought she may have narcolepsy. I’m just trying to help her.

It is difficult to give any advice without knowing any pre-existing conditions or why the folic acid was prescribed?

Has she had extensive blood tests or do you know why was she seeing the GP in the first place?

She kept falling asleep even at work so went to GP. He said her Folic Acid was low & to eat Broccoli. That’s all I know.

I would suggest that anyone low in folate should avoid folic acid and take methylfolate instead. Another option is folinic acid but methylfolate is easier and cheaper to find online.

But it is essential that anyone taking folate should also test their B12. If both are low then B12 should be started first then folate started a week or two later.

Methylfolate is available on sites selling supplements, and so is methylcobalamin (the best form of B12).

Thanks. Really helpful. I will pass the info onto my daughter to send to her friend.
