Synthroid timing with other meds

could taking synthroid at same time with Xanax reduce or alter absorption of synthroid. If so, what is recommended times to take apart?

Absorption of levothyroxine is both complex and poorly understood.

A large number of other medicines interfere with levothyroxine absorption(whatever branding).

Not only do the active ingredients of some other medicines interfere, so too do some of the excipients (inactive ingredients). Of course, changing Alprazolam product (e.g. from one make to another) could take you from a formulation that has little effect to one which has a substantial effect.

For that reason, it is always advised to separate other medicines by at least two hours. Increasing that to four hours for iron supplements, calcium, magnesium, etc.

Hi McRae, I also take synthyroid. The instructions say to take it an hour before or after eating. I try. Sometimes it’s closer to a half hour if I’m going somewhere & need to take.

As far as taking along with other meds, I try not to. I’ll take my other med & vitamins closer to breakfast, then say sunthyroid an hour later. My calcium I take at least a couple hours after this all. Calcium (&magnesium) tend to be stronger & would overtake other vitamins.
