NHS consultation - opportunity to feedback

Dahliasanddaisies profile image

I've just been reading Wes Streeting's article in the guardian about the future of the NHS in England. They have launched a consultation and they want the public ans NHS staff to give their feedback. I'm sure many of us have something to say!

You bet I will! Do hope Thyroid UK submits a response. Thanks for posting.

Yes the BBC is also saying all our medical records will be available on NHS app. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cz7.... However those who dont have smartphone or tablet/ pc presumably wont.

However, both England and Wales "NHS apps" do now support access from a browser so allow access without having to own a smartphone or tablet.

That is an improvement for those who don't have, don't want, smartphones or tablets.

At its best, the England app provides considerable records access already but it does vary.

The Wales app provides effectively no access to records.

Scotland and Northern Ireland do not have apps.

(There might be all sorts of trials giving apps and access not generally available.)

I'd assume for people preferring paper copies they would still be provided... If you dare as the rottweiler on reception 🙃

I'm not keen on surveys that require your name and other details personally. Call me paranoid but its too easy to sell it off. Why cant it be anonymous?

Yes i know what you mean. Although you don't have to be truthful I guess!

I’m not keen on personal details and I really don’t like the box that flashes up straight away asking for personal information, if it’s just a post code I often use the postcode for somewhere local I used to work for exactly that reason.

I thought that till I saw you have to verify your email. Though I guess you could create an anonymous one especially.

I guess..lot of people have 'burner' emails they use for junk mail etc.

Think it’s time for that..

That was what I planned on doing until the box flashed up right away. Part of me decided not to bother but the other part thinks it’s a crafty way to put people off and I should just do it.😉

Yes I agree. No doubt their excuse is to prevent robot responses, but I’d imagine the responses we would give would surely confirm a human!

There are many ways of obtaining email addresses which can easily be disabled in future - and have no link to you.

However, as this is a thyroid forum rather than IT support, it is not the right place to discuss these options.

I suppose it is a nice idea to ask the public and patients what could be done to improve the service.

However, will they listen? No.

Will they implement good ideas? No.

Will any significant changes happen as a result of it? No.

Call me an old cynic, but this has got vanity project written all over it. The whole of the NHS needs a complete haul over to be more efficient and people need to realise, that you cannot deliver good healthcare on a shoe-string. I would first start with tackling the fraud in the NHS, which was running up to £7.5 billion (yes billion!) in 2023 alone. Imagine what you could do with that sum alone....

I laughed at some of the joke suggestions, mandatory euthanasia for bed blockers, pubs in hospitals to raise morale, putting Mikel Arteta, manager of Arsenal FC in charge.

The best one, firing Wes Streeting out of a cannon to raise funds. That's one I could get behind. I dont know what they expected really, this is from the nation that gave us Boaty McBoatface.

Or is it that deep down people know that suggestions, silly or sensible will just be ignored and the Govt will just plough on regardless? That it is nothing more than a PR stunt?

Closing post as it has received some replies and is not, in itself, a thyroid issue.
