Hope you can help me. I have Hashimotos and am therefore on Levothyroxine. I am having trouble getting the prescribed brand, Wockhardt, from any of my local chemists and the pharmacists seem reluctant to order it in for me. Always take this particular brand as it does not contain Acacia to which I am allergic.
Have phoned Wockhardt and they advise there is no shortage and no problems.
Are there any other brands out there that do not contain Acacia.
Back story - been prescribed Levo 20 years ago. Started on liquid which suited fine but then was told too expensive therefore had to take tablet form. After changing brands many times thought perhaps I was allergic to some of the ingredients, therefore have always taken Wockhardt as no Acacia and although not ideal, reduced symptoms.

Hi patzie, what doseage are you taking? I thought Wokhart only do 25?
You need to contact your GP surgery and ask them to specify on your prescription which brand you want. The pharmacist must then provide that. If you leave it up to chance l, then the pharmacy (from experience) will try to fob you off with any old brand.
There is a list of brands and what fillers they contain. I think helvella can point this out (apologies can't remember where to access it)
( Dahliasanddaisies... to find everything of helvella's . look in pinned posts for:
" helvella ~ EVERYTHING ~ including .... " )
patzie, helvella has put details of all levo brands in here: ( uk brands are in first link , along with a section on how to write a prescription naming a specific brand)
helvella's medicines documents (UK and Rest of the World) can be found here:
helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines
helvella has created, and tries to maintain, documents containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world. There is now a specific world desiccated thyroid document.
I highly recommend viewing on a computer screen, or a decent sized tablet, rather than a phone. Even I find it less than satisfactory trying to view them on my phone.
helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines - UK
The UK document contains up-to-date versions of the Summary Matrixes for levothyroxine tablets, oral solutions and also liothyronine available in the UK. Includes injectables and descriptions of tablet markings which allow identification. Latest updates include all declared ingredients for all UK products and links to Patient Information Leaflets, Dictionary of Medicines and Devices (dm+d), etc. PLUS how to write prescriptions in Appendix F.
Contains details of all known desiccated thyroid products including information about several products not considered to be Natural Desiccated Thyroid (NDT/Desiccated Thyroid Extract/DTE).
Contains details of all levothyroxine, liothyronine and combination products - excluding desiccated thyroid products. Details available vary by country and manufacturer.
The link below takes you to a blog page which has direct links to the documents from Dropbox and QR codes to make it easy to access from phones. You will have to scroll down or up to find the link to the document you want.
