my sons depression could be caused from high tsh 5.8?

last 12 months my son is been very depresed antidepresants dident hel him he felt worse and had blood test on thyeoide last two years was normall to high but todays btest shown ts 5.8 [042-4.2]do you think it could be from thyroid

A under active thyroid can cause anxiety and depression i would go back and see your doctor. Good Luck.

Morning, yes it quite possibly could be. You should try to get a full thyroid panel (which your GP will unlikely do) TSH,T4,T3 and antibodies. if he has elevated antibodies, which would then indicate Hashimotos.

It's also worth testing vitamins as low levels of certain vitamins can cause poor mental health symptoms. Did the GP test vitamin D or B12? Ferritin, folate?
