40 T3

Im now on 100 levo and 40 T3 and still tired. Next appointment September.

Looking back at your last result when you were on 100mcg & 20mcg I'd have thought 40mcg is way over the top? If I take too much it slows my heart rate

When you were on 20mcg did you ever try taking it as a single dose? For some this works better and you lose the slump between dosing

Get thyroid levels tested

Quite likely on too high a dose

Last test you left too long between last dose T3 and testing and Ft3 was already high

Free T3 (fT3) 3.89 pmol/L (2.02 - 4.43) 

Ft3 was 77.6% through range

Would quite likely have been over range if tested 8-12 hours after last dose

That’s a massive increase from 20mcg to 40mcg

Only ever increase T3 by 5mcg and retest 8 weeks later

test early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

T3 ….day before test split T3 as 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day, with last dose approximately 8-12 hours before test

if/when you need to reduce dose T3 …..important to do so SLOWLY. Down by 5mcg and wait 6-8 weeks….retest

Repeat as necessary
