Welcome to the group. If you could complete your profile it helps members understand your thyroid journey so far and be able to advise you better. Click on your image icon to start. Fill out the free text box at the top.

Autoimmune conditions often go in pairs or more. Raised TPO antibodies suggest autoimmune hypothyroidism aka Hashimoto's disease.

The antibodies are the result of attacks on the thyroid and slowly the thyroid gland is destroyed.

What time of day has your daughter had blood tests? Highest TSH is at 9am or earlier. TSH varies throughout the day.

Always book an early blood test, do it fasting and no biotin containing supplements for 4-7 days before.

Do you have a copy of your latest blood results that you can share with us? You are legally entitled to a printed copy of your results, ask at GP reception. In England you can get the NHS app and ask for permission to see your blood results on that by asking at GP’s reception.

When hypo we get low stomach acid which means we cannot absorb vitamins well from our food, regardless of a great diet. For thyroid hormone to work well we need OPTIMAL levels of vitamins.

Have you recently or could you ask your GP to test levels of ferritin, folate, B12 & D3? Private tests are available, see link for companies offering private blood tests & discount codes, some offer a blood draw service at an extra cost. thyroiduk.org/testing/priva...

There is also a new company offering walk in& mail order blood tests in London, Kent, Sussex & Surrey areas. Check to see if there is a blood test company near you. onedaytests.com/products/ul...

Only do private tests on a Monday or Tuesday to avoid postal delays.

Many with autoimmune thyroid disease aka Hashimoto's benefit from a gluten free diet. A smaller percentage of those also need to remove dairy from their diet to feel well. These are intolerances and will not show up on any blood test.

Lupus and Hashimoto’s often occur together

Very important to get vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels tested as well as coeliac blood test too

Low vitamin levels extremely common with autoimmune thyroid disease (hashimoto’s)

ALWAYS test thyroid levels early morning, ideally before 9am, and only drinking water between waking and test, to get highest TSH (all many medics incorrectly look at)

Thank you for your replies it's so frustrating as a mum to see her feeling so unwell and still trying to work a 5 day week. I just don't understand that despite my daughters nurse from GP stating she was a very unwell the endocrinologist is not going to see and we unsure what the GP will do as he stated when he say her results he wasn't going to do anything u till she was seen by consultant. Grrrrrrrr

Would you consider a private Endo for your daughter? Many on this forum have taken that route, including me, and it's been a game changer! I know as a mum, to see your daughter so unwell+not getting the help she needs is both heartbreaking+infuriating at the same time. Trust you're able to get the help your daughter needs.
