Weight Gain

So, there are lots of posts about weight issues and here's another one.

I've been on 125mcg Levo since 2013 and feel fine. No problems with sleep, energy etc and no problems with weight until a year or so ago when it became impossible to get the same brand of Levo consistently and sometimes impossible to get my preferred brand at all.

Result is an extra stone, which makes me overweight. Since last September I have been trying to arrest this weight gain, without success. I upped the ante on July 1st and have lost a whole pound since then!

I am gluten and dairy free and almost completely added sugar free anyway, but I have now lowered carbs, raised protein and added a 14 hour fast.

Someone suggested the other day that the excess weight is water, not fat. If so, how do I get rid of it?

Also, if it is fat, what else can I do? I am at my wits end with this.

Thank you

Most importantly, you make sure that all your thyroid hormone levels and nutrient levels are optimal. Apart from that, there's not a lot you can do.

Sorry you don't say how old you are but could it be menopause? HRT could help ?

Went through menopause eleven years ago. I enquired about HRT with my GP some years ago and was told that as I was over 60 at the time, I was too old.

Well that's simply not true, you are never too old. Many post menopausal women may benefit from HRT. See the Newson Health Website

I feel for you Angel. Ive just asked my GP the same question. However it seems i may have bladder & kidney issues so ultrasound in a few weeks. I expel very small amounts of fluid but very bloated. & a very sparse diet. Its so frustrating. Im at least 2 stone overweight now & so depressing. You feel powerless. Sending good thoughts

You could try adding in some fat, being dairy free you might not have enough in your diet. It's like a magic ingredient for me. Olive oil, coconut oil, peanut butter, nuts...
