Intense salty taste that doesn't go away

Hi, I have been diagnosed with overactive thyroid 2 months ago. I was on propylthiouracil 450mg a day until 3 weeks ago when my endocrinologist lowered the dose to 150mg a day. Since then, I have experienced a terrible salty taste in my mouth that doesn't go away. I feel like my saliva is thicker and something like dry mouth. I can't eat anything or drink anything without feeling it's got 1kg of salt in it. It's really uncomfortable and it's driving me crazy. I went to my GP, he thinks it might be acid reflux or initial stomach ulcer, so I've been taking omeoprazole for 10 days now, but there is no improvement. I contacted my endocrinologist but he is not seeing me until 3 weeks time. Has anyone any advice?

Thanks

I looked this up and it suggested Aldosteronism. All my NHS Endo said was "Urgh, horrible, horrible. I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole"! I think at the time, my Cortisol was a bit high. Luckily, it does seem to have diminished lately.
