T3 dosing regimen.

I currently take 50mcg of T3 only per day.

12.5 @ midnight

12.5 @ 6am

12.5 @ 11am

12.5 @ 3pm

This used to work OK ish, but now doesn't.

Does anyone take only twice per day?...or what works for you?

Thanks

Have you had recent blood tests? Make sure that your last dose of T3 is 8-12hrs before the blood draw so that your results show the stable levels of T3.

What supplements are you taking?

What are your latest results for ferritin, folate, B12 & D3?

Why would I want my last dose 8-12 hours before blood test.....I'm not looking to kid my doctor or myself, I'm just trying to find a good dosing regime 🙂

All my D3 folate B12 ferritin are in order.....been supplementing for years

Testing FT3 8-12hrs after your last dose is not about kidding anyone.

T3 has a short half life in the blood, so peaks shortly after taking it. If the test is too long after taking a dose then a false low will show in your results.

Timing of dose prior to blood tests is about being consistent and showing stable blood levels.

Do have a read of this post about blood testing. healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

I'd recommend you get some bloods run to find out where your FT3 lies in the range and test as per the protocol so as not to show a false high or low.

It won't be false....whatever the T3 levels are at the time of test....is what they are.....there's no such thing as false t3 levels

Anyhow......regardless of levels.....I'm just searching for what works for other people....I've been in this game long enough.

Levels in my case don't reflect quality of life and satisfaction.

T3-only is the last resort so it's use can be tricky!

I'm on high dose T3-only and take my full dose at bedtime but there is no guarantee this might work for you!

It is basically trial and error in an attempt to find out what works best....there are no "rules"

On lower doses monitor FT3 to avoid overmedication

On higher doses of T3-only we have to rely on good old fashioned clinical evaluation/ signs and symptoms ...we need to learn to listen to our body and to recognise the signs of overmedication.

The higher dose can help "push" the hormone into the cells where it has to reach the nuclei, attach to T3 receptors and so become active. Otherwise, it just sloshes round in the serum and remains inactive until it is metabolised and excreted without helping......well that's it in very basic terms

In your case I would try twice daily dosing and see how you feel after a couple of weeks....then review
