Guideline 11

The Thyroid UK forum guidelines are always accessible on this pinned post:

Forum Posting Guidelines

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

We ask that all members read them and very much hope you do so. However, in time, we can forget what was there, or misremember, or whatever.

Hence, I am posting this short reminder of the guidelines in full.

And (today) of this specific item:

11. We want all members to be comfortable posting here. In order to ensure that any post or comment which causes alarm, harassment or distress to any person, whether or not intended by the poster, may be removed.

Many who post here are not well, might be suffering all sorts of symptoms.

Many have never used any form of “social media” before and struggle to cope with a system that is new in numerous ways.

Many have never come across thyroid issues before.

The robust arguments common to many “social media” platforms are simply not acceptable here.

Disagreements, corrections, and so on are all necessary and acceptable. But in ways that are polite, and fully allow for the circumstances of everyone.

As a practical suggestion, if you wish to contribute, maybe write your post or reply. Then pause. Re-read what you have typed. Try to consider how others might feel about your words. Other people can’t know what was in your head - only what you type. Accept that your point could itself be wrong or end up being misinterpreted! Make any changes. Only then post.

Note that HealthUnlocked’s own guidelines also apply:
