Metavive is a glanduar that's prescribed for hypothyroid and contains no iodine. But doctors suggest that levothyroxine is enough to treat an underactive thyroid & therefore, no iodine is required. EXCEPT, we all know that levothyroxine is a generic and does NOT fully address the issues of hypothyroid patients. Therefore, there's no interaction between the two so why not take?

Metavive doesn’t suit many, many people

Levo contains (the correct levels of) iodine

Levothyroxine suits thousands of patients

A) if on correct dose

B) correct brand and taking correctly

C) optimal vitamin levels

there are discussions in the scientific journals about the inconsistency of certain drugs and levothyroxine is one of them. Getting the 'correct brand' puts us patients at the mercy of the pharmaceutical industry watchdogs who are supposed to ensure safety - hence the problem. In France several years ago, 50,000 women accused Merck of fiddling with the tablets and won their case.

In France there’s only one brand available to all patients

This brand removed lactose filler and replaced it with mannitol…….and importantly

A) didn’t tell patients

B) offer an alternative

Yes many people react to mannitol.

U.K. government has issued guidelines in support of patients that if they need a particular brand then this should be specified on their prescriptions

I'm not in France and have to go by the official documentation, and that shows three levothyroxine tablet products:

L-THYROXIN HENNING

LEVOTHYROX

THYROFIX

And two capsule products:

TCAPS

TSOLUDOSE

Approved levothyroxine products in France are all listed here:

base-donnees-publique.medic...

You need to type what you are searching for and the boxes at the bottom to say how exact your search is.

It works fine with a translating browser but you do have to use the French name for the active substance! Luckily, French for levothyroxine is lévothyroxine but the system does not need you to enter the accent.

I’m definitely better off on separate supplements matched to what I’m short on depending on blood test results.

I like being a to take 2 a week of one thing and every day of another etc.

Hiya, I take seperate suppliments (iron, all the b specrum, d3 with K2, magnesium, algal oil, biotin with selenium) & blood test results for vitamins & iron have come up normal for those since then. Plus it spreads the cost as they run out at different times

Thanks for info. I’m going to do the same.

We’re all different of course, but it worked for me on the nutrient level front

I take Metavive 1 twice a day, under the tongue until it dissolves.
