DUTCH test results

I recently was treated for my 50th to a DUTCH TEST! I have appointed a functional doctor to help interpret my results, but as always, appreciate those in the know on here throwing in their two penn’orth.

I now take progesterone daily so generally don’t have a cycle. I also take 3 sprays of Lenzetto daily. Any comments much appreciated especially radd who recommended I had this test and humanbean who I expect understands it more than me!

Thank you kindly.

CC,

Remember the DUTCH isn’t just about hormone levels but how hormones are behaving, and what the body is doing with them. The levels of different metabolites of sex/adrenal hormones & their detox pathways will show where you are over producing and where you have blockages. If you included the organic acids that will assess oxidative stress, gut health, nutrient deficiencies, etc, to give a more complete picture.

The dials show where your levels lie with numbers left & right indicating the range. For some hormones the arrow would ideally be pointing straight up indicating a half way through range level but if other hormones are unbalanced the arrows could be swaying to the left (lower levels) or the right (higher levels) as in the case of your elevated E2 where the arrow is red, and your deficient testosterone where the arrow is yellow.

The CYP’s are enzymes that help metabolise the oestrogens and you can see are shown in an arrowed pathways onto the next metabolites. Your COMT methylation activity used in dealing with these metabolites is good. When the arrowed pathways have an arrow head either end it indicates the metabolites are bio-directional.

Oestrogens E1, E2, and E3 have different actions and a best ratio. The coloured pie chart shows your oestrogen metabolism ratios which take into account the associated pathways efficiency. You can see your protective pathway (green) is good but the red slice which is slightly larger than suggested 'healthy' will be relating to your over-range E2.

I found the cortisol to cortisone pages fascinating as give indications of why our saliva stress tests are so low. I physically had low levels of everything but many people are producing adequate or even high cortisol but have no ‘free’ to utilise as it’s either bound or metabolised into inactive reservoirs of cortisone as the body response becomes exaggerated to such excess.

I've had two DUTCH tests and given you a very basic outline of what I have learnt from the DUTCH tutorials, but it will take an experienced practitioner hours to decipher exactly what means what whilst considering hormone levels and how pathways are functioning. For instance it isn’t always a good idea to supplement for something deficient as it may be addressing issues further up the hormonal cascade, or helping detoxification will naturally correct that issue anyway. The aim is to get the HPA axis responding correcting.

How exciting for you. Good luck CC🤞

Thank you for your help. When you say “if you included your organic acids” do you mean in what I attached or in my test? I can’t see anything in the results relating to them. radd

I'm sorry CornishChick, but I've never seen the output of a Dutch Test before and know absolutely nothing about the interpretation of the results.

Ahh no worries thank you, thought that might be your area, you seem to have a wealth of knowledge on hormones!
