Should vit D supplements be adjusted when we are out and about in sunshine?
Are amino acids worth taking as supplements?
All stuff I come across in random readings.
Thanks.

Hi Calceolaria
I imagine it depends on your goals and test results. I realised from advice on this forum how important vitamin D is so got a test and have supplemented daily with BetterYou vitamin D + K2 3000iu oral spray for 18 months. At the end of the long grey winter, my third test result has come back at 56, compared with 71 last October - after the summer. My initial April 2023 result was 51. All 3 readings are within the level defined as adequate by the NHS but are below the range considered advisable by BetterYou (100-150nmol/L) for optimal bone and immunity support. So I feel I have good reason to continue with my supplementation plan, even in the (hopefully!) sunnier weather. The breakdown from my most recent test actually recommends a loading dose of 8000iu daily for one month then maintenance dose of 4000iu ie. a daily increase of 1000iu. My Vitamin D goal is at least 100 so I am going on the assumption that any sunshine will only serve to boost my efforts.
If someone was at the higher end of the range it may be different for them in the summer (sunshine) months.
Thanks Pandora. I have done well on BetterYou D with K2 spray but without getting tested every sunny day, it’s going to be impossible to get it right! Strangely, I have never got on with vit D supplements in the past so it’s all probably a lot more complex than it seems. I’ll just plod on with my 3 sprays.
