I have suffered with both under but had an over active thyroid for many years. I were being over medicated and my consultant dropped my dose and now struggling to cope.

Hi SlowDragon,

I am on 75mg of levo.

You wont remember but I were so over medicated I suffeed heart failure, my Levo was reduced from 150 to 75.

I am on 20mcg of Liothyronine.

I must add that I am under investigation in Gastro for absorbtion issues and have been diagnosed with Crohn's.

So last dose Levothyroxine was 24 hours before test?

Day before test did you split T3 as 2 or 3 smaller doses with last dose 8-12 hours before test

When were vitamin levels last tested

It was an early blood draw so didn't take my thyroid meds until I got home, including my T3.

I am on B12 injections and my iron result was flagged as low yet I am taking an iron supplement !

so how many hours before test was last dose levothyroxine

Request increase in dose ……initially to 87.5mcg …

Retest 8 weeks later

Likely to need to increase again to 100mcg

Ft3 result is inaccurate as last dose too long before test

High CRP will falsely raise ferritin

Not surprising iron is low when dose Levo is too low

Iron supplements need to be four hours away from Levo and 2 hours away from other supplements

Taking iron with orange juice or vitamin C can help improve absorption

How much vitamin D are you taking ….and if it’s tablets or gels ….need to be at least 4 hours away from Levo

Are you also taking daily magnesium, afternoon or evening……at least 4 hours away from Levo
