T3 side effects

Good morning, I have recently started T3 (around 7 weeks ago). I was prescribed 10mcg daily alongside 62.5mcg of Levo. After the first week I dropped the dose to 5mcg due to palpitations. I increased back up to 10mcg 3 weeks later. In the last couple of weeks I have been experiencing a lot of joint pain, pretty much everywhere. Has anyone else had this experience? Feels more like tendonitis than arthritis type pain. I have a blood test booked in 2 days time so interested to see my results. Definitely not feeling the benefits yet.

When I first started T3 , added to levo, on a tiny 1/8 th ish ( ie couldn’t be that accurate cutting) of a 25 mcg Tiromel pill I quickly felt it as heart palpitations and a loosening of the stiff painful hips…weird. If the T3 is, like the old beer ad, reaching parts that was not previously reached could your body be interpreting this new sensation as pain instead? I have fibromyalgia anyway and frequently can’t tell the difference between hot or cold water running into the bath, just know it’s not tepid, as pain signals muddled…. I just a thought Flamingo that you might be experiencing the same type of thing with T3 at the moment….

Interesting thoughts, thanks for replying. I haven’t had any joint stiffness or pain before…not before starting thyroid meds anyway. Was a runner until recently and had no joint issues at all 🫤

Hi did your joint stiffness go away ? Did you continue with the T3?

I’m still on the same dose of T3 (as advised by my endo) and plan to do my next blood test in a couple of weeks. My ‘joint’ aches & pains are still much the same but as I said before I’m fairly sure that my tendons are the problem. Read something recently that suggests calcification of tendons can be caused by low thyroid function 🤷🏻‍♀️ … need to do more research.

Sorry for the late reply , thank you for replying. I’ve got bursitis and tendernitis in my shoulders, will look into the tendon calcification, although both my level are good in range 🤷🏼‍♀️

I have a shoulder problem at the moment, rotator cuff I think. Let’s keep in touch, one of us might find an answer ☺️

Definitely, I had an ultra sound on my right shoulder 8 weeks ago and that showed up both problems and now my left shoulder is bad aswell bursitis and tendernitis in rotator cuff area , I had a steroid injection which hasn’t really helped and I have a follow up in 4 weeks, I’m sure any calcification would have showed up , so going to asked to be referred to orthopaedics (I had 2 frozen shoulders in lockdown another thyroid related issue) I have sacroiliac issues too so totally fed up with being in pain , Im certain my thyroid or lack of it (RAI) is the root cause and T3 has been amazing in so many ways , but coincidentally I never had these issues before T3?
