I'm really pleased to hear that. Its not good enough that GPs now think its OK to discuss medical matters with us via text message.

It can take quite some persistence sometimes, but always worth it when we get the right result.

Book in your blood test now for 6-8 weeks time. This will give you more time slot options as you really need a 9am or earlier blood test.

When you do the test, use the protocol for optimal results.

Recommended blood test protocol: Test at 9am (or as close as possible), fasting, last levo dose 24hrs before the blood draw & no biotin containing supplements for 3-7 days (Biotin can interfere with thyroid blood results as it is used in the testing process).

Testing like this gives consistency in your results and will show stable blood levels of hormone and highest TSH which varies throughout the day. Taking Levo/T3 just prior to blood draw can show a falsely elevated result and your GP/Endo might change your dose incorrectly as a result.

Start a new post when you have the results.

Have you tested and begun supplementing vitamin levels?

If your prescription changes to specify 75 microgram tablets - then it will be Teva product that gets dispensed. (It is currently the only 75 microgram product in the UK.)

If you are OK with Teva, then it doesn't matter. But some find they do not get along with Teva levothyroxine. Therefore, you might find you have at least some flexibility by getting your prescription written for 50 and 25 microgram tablets.
