These are my sisters blood she has not felt good for a while she was adamant it was not her thyroid because GP only did t4 bloods and TSh and she refused to get more detailed bloods anyways I eventually made her get them done and like I expected TPA high! Endocrinologist should give her small dose of t4 shouldn’t they? I had thyroiditus my thyroid was huge after it was left for 8 years and it was completely mangled when they removed it.
my sister : These are my sisters blood she has... - Thyroid UK
my sister
next step
She needs vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin levels tested
Plus coeliac blood test
As FT3 is low likely low vitamin levels
GP or Endo won’t want to start Levo until TSH over 5 on 2 separate tests
Was this test early morning?
Endocrinologist should give her small dose of t4 shouldn’t they?
With those results, sadly unlikely. Unless a very forward-thinking endo is involved.
Despite the difficulties in getting the thyroid treated by the NHS - the vitamins Slowdragon recommends testing should not be ignored.
They are needed for your thyroid to function. And with an underactive thyroid you can pretty much guess that they will be low because hypo people having trouble absorbing them. They are so important, and should definitely be your next step.
Also let us know the time of the test as SD asks. That too is more important than you’d guess as TSH fluctuates through the day, and is highest in the early morning.
