I have been taking 62.5 mcg mercury pharma plus 15T3 for a couple of years
Every time I try and increase the Thyroxine I get itchy eyes and a runny nose ( with stomach pain) so eventually I got a prescription for Aristo.. but since being on it I am so hypothyroid, I’m struggling to walk and spend most of my day in bed.. I have been on 75mcg for about 8 weeks.. when I stopped it for a couple of days it lifted.
So I am not sure what to do.. I could go back onto Mercury pharma and manage to do more than what I’m doing now.. but with the allergies and stomach issues I would rather find another option.
I have tried Accord, Wockhart, Thybon Henning T4 and all made me more hypo.
I don’t want to take T3 only
I did think about having liquid thyroxine compounded but not sure how expensive or accurate that would be
I have terrible exhaustion and a passing out feeling.. any advice I would appreciate.. Many thanks x

You need to test 6-8 weeks after being on constant unchanging dose and brand levothyroxine
Very common to initially feel better when stop levothyroxine…..before becoming significantly worse
What are your vitamin levels
What vitamin supplements are you taking
Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
T3 ….day before test split T3 as 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day, with last 5mcg dose approximately 8-12 hours before test
Some people have said they find it milder, I looked back at you old results and your fT4 barely makes it above 50% so I'm thinking you really need to try it around 75% which is often near the sweet spot 🤗
would it make such a difference in tolerating thyroid meds?
Yes ….Low vitamin levels makes it difficult to tolerate replacement thyroid hormones
Rather than just folate
supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid)
This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help improve B12 levels too
Then once your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), you may be able to reduce then stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.
If Vegetarian or vegan likely to need ongoing separate B12 few times a week
IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results
In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12
Post discussing how biotin can affect test results
