Can anybody help with results?

Hello everyone,

I wondered whether anybody may be able to help with my latest blood test results?

I gained a lot of weight last year - was unsure whether this was due to taking an antidepressant so came off. Weight has been difficult to lose.

I’ve recently been suffering with a gastritis type illness hence the blood tests - whilst I’ve been suffering, I’ve experienced really bad anxiety - completely out of proportion to the situation of not feeling well. Almost impending doom & feeling like I might pass out.

I do suffer with anxiety and went through a really bad bout in 2017/18 so when these symptoms happened, I did think it was due to anxiety. But now I’m thinking it could be thyroid related.

I did test positive for TPO antibodies last year (this feeling of not being right has been going on for a while). I get hot easily and sweat more - conversely I get cold easily too!

Any advice would be most welcome. I am due to speak to my doctor next week following the results.

thank you

BOTH tests strongly suggest autoimmune HYPOTHYROID disease also called Hashimoto’s

Hashimoto’s frequently starts with transient hypertension results and symptoms before becoming increasingly hypothyroid

Request GP test TSI or Trab antibodies for Graves’ disease (autoimmune HYPERTHYROID) just to rule it out

Request vitamin levels are retested too

You need coeliac blood test as well

You might want to look more closely into your adrenal function.

Do you feel bloated when you eat certain foods?

How's your sleep?

Looking at your blood test results:

FT3 - Slightly elevated - This could cause symptoms of overstimulation, such as anxiety. If you have elevated cortisol levels, this could cause stomach symptoms like bloating after eating as well as anxiety and weight gain. I had very brittle sleep...very irregular... and extreme bloating until I cut out virtually all sugar and a lot of flour-based foods. Then I began to see a steady 7 hr per night pattern.

Heybella, I have had anxiety for about 10 years. Was diagnosed with Hashimotos last year but only went strictly gluten free at the beginning of January. I haven’t had one panic attack since stopping the gluten and my anxiety is 90% improved. Thought it might be useful for you to know

thank you 😊 I’m definitely going to look into going gluten free. Glad you feel better!
